Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
- Your Screen Time and app-usage data stay on your phone. We never see which apps you use.
- The app has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no trackers. We don't track you across apps or websites.
- For subscriptions, Apple handles payment and RevenueCat manages your subscription status under a random anonymous ID — never your name or email.
This policy explains what Interruptus (“Interruptus”, “we”, “us”) does with information when you use the Interruptus iOS app and the website at interruptus.app (together, the “Service”). Interruptus is operated by [Operator legal name, City, Country], the data controller for the purposes of the EU/UK GDPR. You can reach us any time at hello@interruptus.app.
1. Our approach
Interruptus is a calm screen-time app. It's built to need as little of your data as possible. The core of the app — choosing which apps to limit, the gentle interrupts, your saved-time count, your reasons — runs and stays entirely on your device. We designed it so that the most sensitive information never leaves your phone and is never visible to us.
2. Data that stays on your device
Interruptus uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity) to limit the apps you choose. Because of how these frameworks work:
- Your selection of apps to limit, your usage and session activity, your limits and cooldowns, your saved-time bank, and any reason or notes you write are processed and stored only on your device (in an on-device app-group container and, where relevant, the iOS Keychain).
- Apple's framework deliberately keeps your app-usage tokens private to your device. We cannot see, receive, or access which apps you use or how long you use them.
- This on-device data is removed when you delete the app.
3. Subscriptions & purchases
Interruptus offers an optional paid subscription (Premium). When you start a free trial or subscribe:
Apple
Payment is processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never receive or store your name, payment-card details, or Apple ID. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and tell the app whether your Premium access is active. Acting as our data processor, RevenueCat receives and stores on our behalf:
- a random, anonymous app-user ID generated on your device — it is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID;
- your purchase and subscription status and history (e.g. which plan, trial state, renewal/expiry, country of the App Store account);
- standard technical metadata needed to deliver and secure the service (device model, operating-system version, SDK version, and the IP address of a request, used to infer coarse country and to prevent fraud).
This is used solely to verify and restore your entitlement. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
4. What we don't do
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- No advertising, and no selling or sharing of personal data.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites (in Apple's App Tracking Transparency terms, we do not track you).
- No account and no request for your email inside the app.
5. Diagnostics
If you opt in through iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share aggregated, anonymized crash and performance diagnostics with us as the developer. This is controlled by you in iOS, is not linked to your identity, and helps us fix bugs and improve stability.
6. The website & beta waitlist
The marketing site at interruptus.app is static and doesn't profile visitors. If you join the beta waitlist, our provider GetWaitlist stores the email address (and any referral information) you submit, so we can send your invite and occasional build updates. You can unsubscribe from those emails at any time, or email us to have your address removed.
7. Legal bases (EU/UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — providing the app and managing your subscription.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the Service secure, preventing fraud and abuse, and fixing problems.
- Consent — waitlist emails and any optional diagnostics you turn on. You can withdraw consent at any time.
8. Sharing & international transfers
We share data only with the processors named above (Apple, RevenueCat, and — for the website waitlist — GetWaitlist), and only as needed to run the Service, or where required by law. Some of these providers process data in the United States; such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the providers' own transfer frameworks).
9. Retention
On-device data lasts until you delete the app. RevenueCat subscription records are retained for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because most app data lives on your device, deleting the app removes it directly. For data held by RevenueCat under our random anonymous ID, contact us and we'll help you access or delete it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any right, email hello@interruptus.app.
11. Children
Interruptus is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
12. Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, note them on this page. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
13. Contact
Questions about privacy? Email hello@interruptus.app[, or write to: Operator legal name + postal address].
Interruptus uses Apple's on-device Screen Time frameworks. It never transmits your app-usage data, and we cannot see what you do on your device.
